Learn the principles of safe and responsible firearms handling, basic wildlife management concepts, hunter responsibility and basic outdoor survival. You will learn about the history of firearms and how to clean, care for and safely store them. There will be a brief introduction to handguns and archery. Individuals must be at least 11 years of age at the start of the course to enroll. Parents and guardians may also sit in on the course or take it for credit. To purchase a Minnesota Archery or Firearms deer license, individuals ages 12 – 15 must have a Firearms Training Certificate. Certificates are recognized by all states and provinces that require hunter safety education. You may now register with Red Wing Community Education online or in person. The class cost is $8.00 with an additional cost of $7.50 due at the end of the class when you file your completion paperwork with the state. Additional paperwork will be required to be completed at the in-person registration March 31 from 6:00-7:00pm at ELC, 442 Guernsey Ln, Red Wing. *Class on May 4 will meet 6:00-8:00pm.
